Our Story & Wines

A vineyard with the magic of stardust sprinkled about is surely like no other.

Serendipity has no timetable. It happens, or it doesn’t. But once in a very great while, the stars and planets align perfectly, and in just that moment, magic happens.

And so, it was when Michael Dellar, a restaurateur whose restaurants have earned Michelin Stars and James Beard Awards, and Mort Friedkin, a real estate developer of extraordinary properties, climbed a hill on Soda Canyon Road in Napa Valley after a 20-year vineyard quest. They immediately understood the possibilities.

The aging process enhances the magic of what comes before. First, each vintage spends approximately 27 months in a combination of new and neutral French Oak barrels before bottling. Then, our unique practice of bottle-aging Stardust for up to three years before release helps to align all the elements into a truly delicious and harmonious wine of classic proportions, ready to enjoy upon purchase, but with excellent aging potential.

Stardust is the magic in the soil, the grapes, and the dreams of the viticulturists and winemakers who create our celestial wine.

2017 Cabernet Sauvignon (100%)

Harvest: September 30th
Alcohol: 15.1%
Barrel Aging: 27 months in 60% new French Oak and 40% neutral French Oak
Bottle Aging:  30 additional months before release.
Cases: 100 cases total, bottles and magnums

Winery Notes: 2017 began with plentiful rainfall followed by a mild spring. An early September heat spike followed by three weeks of cooler weather resulted in good sugar levels and the accumulation of flavor complexity. What a difference an early September heat spike made as we picked on September 30th, just 8 days before the Atlas Fire.

The resulting wine shows dark ruby colors with a blackberry aroma and a little spice box essence. The palate is rich and rewarding with bursting fruit of dark berries and the ever-present black cherry, plus cassis and subtle oak complexity.
